A local council worker took a last minute flight by herself to a British holiday hotspot to spend just over eight hours enjoying the sun.
Emma Colbourne paid £110 for a solo trip to the city of Palma on Mallorca.
The 26-year-old landed on the Spanish island around 10.30am and was on a flight back at 10pm – but when removing transit time, got just 8.5 hours in the city itself.
But savvy Emma, from West Midlands, didn’t let her short time abroad go to waste.
They got up at 3.30am and caught a train to Birmingham airport before jetting off to Palma.
The moment she landed, she hopped on a bus to the city centre for a leisurely walk and stopped into the Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca for a culture fix.
After some shopping, Emma hit the beach for a dip and to work on her tan, before enjoying a meal while watching the waves roll in.
At 7.30pm, she took a bus back to the airport with a smile on her face, having spent just £40 on food and other bits in addition to her £110 flight.
“This was my second extreme day trip – and I did it solo!” Emma told Luxury Travel Daily.
“I did another one a few years ago to Dublin.
“Each time I will try and get further away from home.
Emma was inspired to take the trip as she had just one day of annual leave left this year.
She later shared a video of her adventure to TikTok.
One viewer, named Nicola, praised her on taking the trip solo, saying: “Looks amazing! Am thinking of going in September! Hope you had a lovely time! Why should you wait on people when you can experience life on your own?”
“Looks so nice!,” added Esmee, to which Emma replied “Really was”.
“Amazing,” said Mark.
