Hollywood has transformed the streets of Monaco into a 1960s racing circuit as the new Ocean’s Eleven prequel brings vintage cars, drones and period-dressed extras to the principality.
The dramatic scenes are being filmed for the upcoming heist movie starring Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper, which follows Danny Ocean’s parents as they attempt a daring robbery during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.
Footage shows racing cars speeding around the streets as production crews recreate the famous circuit, with roads closed to traffic and pedestrians during filming.

Drones hovered overhead while dozens of crew members, trucks and extras in 1960s clothing filled the area.
Anelka Theodore Steib, 23, captured the scenes from the terrace of her 13th-floor office after getting a bird’s-eye view of the production, as reported by Whats The Jam.
She said: “From our office we had the chance to see the cars reproducing the race and using the same track as the original Grand Prix.
“We saw the production team, drones in the sky and film extras wearing 60s clothes, right below our building.”
The cars were not quite as loud as classic Formula One machinery but could still be heard from high above the streets.
Anelka said the scale of the production had left locals and tourists impressed, despite some traffic disruption.
She said: “It’s unusual to see the Hollywood team based in Monaco during a whole week and filming in the street.
“Even though some streets were closed, locals and tourists had the chance to see some scenes and be very close to the filming site.”
The production team was based around Port Hercule, with large numbers of staff and trucks occupying the area.
The star-studded cast also includes Monica Barbaro, Vicky Krieps, George MacKay and Omar Sy.
Despite watching from his office, Anelka did not manage to spot Robbie or Cooper.
She said: “Unfortunately, I didn’t see the stars, we were too far to see the faces of the people.
“If I wasn’t working I would be on site and try to be closer.”
The most spectacular moment came when filming began, with the cars setting off as though they were competing in a real Grand Prix.
Anelka said: “The most interesting moment was the kick off, when you see all the production starting to film and the cars starting the race as a real competition.”
The unexpected Hollywood takeover has given visitors a glimpse of the lavish period setting being created for the film.
Anelka added: “I feel lucky to have the chance to live this and to be in the middle of the filmmaking and to experience this type of events in Monaco.
“Every morning of the week we were excited to go on the terrace and watch the cars.”
