A dad has come up with a genius bedtime hack to trick his children into going to bed early.
Sean Motsch’s hilarious game is one they can’t win.
He put together a chart with three sections offering his children the option to buy anything they want, win £100 or go to bed early.
The 34-year-old placed the piece of paper underneath a spring doorstop.
Savannah, six, flicked the doorstop and waited with her two-year-old sister, Jane, to see which option it would land on.
She jumped up and down in tears while begging to have one more go as the doorstop inevitably landed on “early bedtime”.
“Her face when she realised it landed on early bedtime was hilarious,” Mum, Kristine, 31, of Tucson, Arizona, US, told What’s The Jam.
“However, she did cry.
“Sean drew a rainbow shape with three sections.
“Go to the store and buy anything you want, early bedtime and win $100.
“Then he stuck it under the springy doorstop with an early bedtime in the middle.
“He told our daughter, Savannah, ‘flick the doorstop, and wherever it lands, you win’.
“Of course, the doorstop only lands in the middle.
“Savannah looked betrayed, and confused.
“Jane didn’t care.
“But really it made us laugh so hard.
“It’s one of those ‘this is going in the memory book’ moments.
“Sean is a prankster by nature, he loves to tease and joke. I believe it’s one of his love languages.
“She went to bed a little early later that evening, but after the prank, she got cuddles and ice cream.”
Kristine posted it on social media and commenters found it hilarious.
Some people joked that it could be the start of a gambling addiction for Savannah.
But others slammed technical sergeant Sean for betraying Savannah’s trust.
Kristine added: “It blew up.
“So many people said they were going to do it.
“Others were cracking up over how genius and evil it is at the same time.
“As always there are two sides to a coin, so some were truly upset and offended – to those people I just wish I could give them a big hug.
“We had to let Savannah in on it – we truly don’t like to upset our kids, so we explained the prank and now we can’t use it again.”
“It’s all in good fun and honestly, she thinks it’s funny now too.”
The video racked up more than 12m views online.
Stacy joked: “You’ve got an early gambler on your hands.”
Zoe said: “Words are so powerful.
“Imagine making your child cry because you’re the adult and you’re smarter than them.
“Then you say over and over again ‘you’ll never win’.
“That child is heartbroken, she’s been betrayed and embarrassed.”
Another person added: “You better take that poor girl to the store and buy her whatever she wants.”
A fourth person said: “That is so diabolical, I love it.”
Ray said: “This is like when my dad said ‘heads I win, tails you lose’“.
Another viewer added: “Funniest, meanest thing ever.”
