Images showed people gathering the wriggling fish, which many described as a miraculous blessing and a cherished part of regional identity.
The bizarre meteorological marvel took place in the Centro Poblado area of Yoro, Honduras.
One resident said: “My dear Yoro, blessed miraculously from the sky.
“Thank you God for this wonderful event of your greatness and power.”
Another local added: “There is no doubt, it is not a myth, it is a reality.

“I have personally collected fish there and eaten them.”
The event, known locally as the “lluvia de peces”, typically occurs between May and July during the rainy season and has been reported for over a century, drawing international curiosity.
Yoro lies inland far from the coast, adding to the mystery of how freshwater fish materialise after heavy storms.

Theories include waterspouts lifting them from distant rivers or lakes, or fish emerging from subterranean aquifers flushed out by flooding, although scientists have yet to fully explain the phenomenon.

Many attribute it to divine intervention linked to 19th-century Spanish priest Manuel de Jesús Subirana, who is said to have prayed for food for the poor during a famine.
Locals view each occurrence as a continuing blessing.
The phenomenon has turned Yoro into a cultural and tourist draw, as reported by creatorzine.com.
The annual Festival de la Lluvia de Peces features parades, gastronomy and celebrations that highlight the event’s significance.
For families, it also provides the practical bonus of fresh fish for frying.
No injuries or major damage from the storm were reported, although power outages affected parts of the area.
