An iconic cat café is clawing its way back just months after its shock shutdown – with a brand new home and a fresh group of rescue kittens.

Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium, once famed for huge queues and months-long waiting lists, will officially reopen on 11 April in Maritime Greenwich, London.

The much-loved hotspot closed in summer 2025 after nearly a decade, as soaring costs pushed the business to breaking point.

A backdated rent hike and spiralling business rates forced the quirky café to shut its doors – leaving fans fearing it was gone for good.

But in a dramatic 11th-hour rescue, a loyal customer stepped in as an angel investor, backing former manager Freyja Hides-Westwood to take over and save the day, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Now the purr-fect hangout is back – just moments from the Cutty Sark and Greenwich Market.

The new venue has already welcomed early supporters who helped raise more than £50,000 in a crowdfunding campaign in just a few weeks.

Freyja, who managed the café for years before its closure, has spearheaded the comeback and says it marks a brand new chapter.

She said: “I worked as the Manager of Lady Dinah’s for five years before the closure.

“I, like many staff and guests, couldn’t bear to see the café close.

“This new chapter is about learning from the past and building something stronger, supporting rescue cats while giving Londoners a space to slow down and enjoy themselves.

“The response from our community has been extraordinary, and we’re excited to welcome both familiar faces and new guests through the doors again.”

The revamped café promises a refreshed menu, homemade treats and a stronger focus on animal welfare.

Five rescue cats and kittens have already moved in and are being prepped for café life ahead of the grand reopening.

The concept remains the same – letting visitors tuck into food and drinks while relaxing with adoptable cats.

Before its closure, the café had become one of London’s quirkiest attractions, with cat lovers travelling from across the UK and beyond to visit.

And with excitement already building, its big return looks set to draw the crowds all over again.
