A woman who became a grandmother in her thirties has revealed how people still mistake her and her daughter for twins.
When Brittany Desborough recognised her then teen’s mood shift, she instantly knew what was going on.
The 38-year-old had fallen pregnant herself at just 17 years old with daughter Makenzie.

Despite the pair often being mistaken for twins, or even people struggling to tell which of them is the mum, she had a new surprise in store.
Now, she’s been dubbed the ‘world’s hottest gran’ online.
“When Makenzie was in her late teens, we’d get a lot of attention whenever we went out together,” Brittany, a mum-of-four, told What’s The Jam.

“A lot of people mistook us for sisters, or twins, and were left baffled when I told them we were actually mother and daughter.
“Some people even thought Makenzie was my mum.

“It was really tricky to tell.
“Luckily, she always found it hilarious – and I found it incredibly flattering.”
Brittany had met her husband, Chris, now 39, at a school party.

Eight months into their whirlwind romance, the teens got engaged.

A few months later, though, she began to feel waves of nausea – and it turned out, Brittany was pregnant.
The mum, from California, US, had grown up Catholic and so ending the pregnancy wasn’t an option.
She worried how having a baby so young would “ruin” her life.
Brittany said: “I was so confused how it happened.
“I knew Chris wanted to have kids right away, but we were both so young.
“Thankfully he was over the moon.
“My dad was really supportive, too.
“Life as a young mum wasn’t always easy.

“While most of my friends were partying and applying for university, I had no choice but to grow up.”
10 years later, the pair went on to have Savannah, 11 and Charlie, nine.
Despite having three kids, Brittany kept her youthful good looks in check.
Her daily skincare routine consists of cleanser, glycolic acid, niacinamide and zinc, gel moisturiser, squalene oil, Vaseline and crows-tape feet.
It’s why people at Makenzie’s school dubbed Brittany the ‘hot mum’.
Then, in 2024, she gave birth to her fourth son, Hunter.

But a few months after welcoming him, that’s when Makenzie admitted she was pregnant, too.
She said: “I found her curled up in bed staring at the wall.
“It was like deja vu.
“All I felt was sympathy.
“Myself and Chris supported her and she seriously knuckled down.”
Now, they’re building an annex for Makenzie and her son, Banks, while they navigate their expanding family.
Brittany added: “It was strange having a grandson and a son less than a year apart.
“But I wouldn’t change it for anything.
“Hunter loves his nephew very much.
“People are even more surprised now when I tell them I’m a grandma.
“But it goes to show; us grannies come in all shapes, sizes and good looks.”
