Britain’s unluckiest dog is still looking for a home after being rejected seven times.

Three-year-old greyhound Nikita is a retired racing dog.

She is currently being cared for by charity Dog’s Trust where staff call her Nik Nak.

But her size and appearance puts owners off and a permanent home for the pooch has not materialised, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Nikita has been described as “a sweet three-year-old” who is “very friendly and loves making new friends – human and canine”.

And carers think she’s “absolutely wonderful”.

A spokeperson for Dog’s Trust Glasgow said: “She has met seven different potential families and each one has cancelled their reservation.

“Some have said she’s too big or too bony.

“Everything happens for a reason – maybe she’s been waiting for you?

“She is a confident soul who loves to check everything out, but due to her racing history, she will require a lead and muzzle while in public.

“Nikita is a little flirt when she meets someone new.

“She would be able to share her home with a similar sized dog, pending successful mixes at the centre.

“She’d be able to be left home alone for a couple of hours but we’d recommend building this up gradually.

“She is looking for an understanding family that can help her with the basics.

“Nikita would love to have a garden, but this isn’t essential, as long as she gets her daily exercise.

“Having occasional access to a secure field every once in a while would be beneficial too if she doesn’t have a garden to zoom in.”

The ex-racer is currently with a foster family and is proving to be fully house-trained.

She loves her food and is a big fan of lazing around.
