A woman who speaks to trees claims they have an important message for us.
Ruby Deevoy says her gift has provoked negative comments from others, but she is finally ready to share her story.
The 35-year-old claims to be able to have a proper conversation with trees.

But she admits most of the time, the chats are brief.
She also claims to be able to communicate with the moon, the stars and some animals.
“The one thing they all share is that they want to help,” Ruby, who is from London, but now lives in Scotland, told What’s The Jam.
“Many indigenous elders around the world are also saying at the moment that the trees and plants are talking to each other.
“They are trying to come up with ways to help us through the planetary crisis we face.

“Communicating with nature is something humans have always done, but most people in the UK have become disconnected from this ability.
“It’s really important we re-kindle this connection now.”
In order to be open to conversing with nature, Ruby says she has to be in the correct headspace.

When working, caring for her young son, doing the shopping and generally, going about her day, Ruby says that she finds her ability shuts off.
She said: “I do of course also receive messages on my own, usually when I’m out walking my dog, so I’m able to still my mind and be in nature.
“More often than not I have to initiate the conversation with a specific question, although not always.
“This is usually asking for guidance for myself or someone else.
“It would be overwhelming if it was constant, fortunately, they’re quite respectful, although sometimes they can be quite pushy with me if they want to urgently work with someone else.
“I’ve had a few clamouring to get in at the same time for different people before which is quite overwhelming!”
Ruby works as a journalist and is a science writer, but she also runs plant and tree spirit sessions for others.
She says she works in a similar way to reiki but follows ancient Celtic tradition and uses her voice, breathwork and sometimes, physical touch, to help others.
Her practice is all intuitive and she finds that the tree she is sharing her energy with at the time will guide her.
Ruby said: “Some people have experienced physical and emotional pain relief, and some have experienced ancestral wound healing.
“Some have quite pragmatic information given to them like ‘I have too much salt in my body’. It’s totally unique every time.
“The people I work with have visions, involuntary movements, pain relief, help moving through grief, new knowledge, extreme temperature changes, tingling, feelings like I’m physically moving them, releases, crying, laughing, falling asleep… all sorts!”
Ruby says her long-term partner is extremely supportive of her gift and has even become inspired after an energy session with her.
Her mother has also previously had a session with Ruby and embraces her daughter’s unique ability.
Ruby discovered she could talk to plants last year, after meeting a group of people who could communicate with plant and animal spirits.
She worked remotely with a man who lived in Portugal and was able to deep dive into experiences with nature.
For 15 years, she had taken part in shadow work, which helped her to process difficult emotions.
Due to this, she says she was able to understand and recognise her own energy very well.
She is able to discern between her own energy and the energy of others, which opens her up to communicating with nature.
She said: “My curiosity about trees began all the way back in 2012.
“My partner and I went to live with my now mother-in-law at her home in Tennessee for a while.
“She is of Cheyenne lineage, which is commonly known as native American or First Nation. Her husband was Cherokee.
“I started having incredibly vivid, often prophetic dreams and one night I dreamt that I needed to go to a specific mountain in North Carolina.
“As soon as I described them my mother-in-law knew I meant the smoky mountains.
“As I approached them, I became overwhelmed with emotion, and as we drove into the mountains I felt the urgent need to get out of the car, and then I felt it.
“I could feel that the mountains were alive. I could feel its heart beating.
“I could hold hands with the air as if it were a person and I had a deeply profound experience of feeling myself breathing for the trees, and the trees breathing for me.
“This was my first deep spiritual connection to nature, which stayed with me.”
Ruby has been nervous to share her personal experiences but finds that despite receiving negative comments, most people are very positive.
She added: “Most people are surprisingly receptive and positive.
“I think most people who are at all switched on to the magic of our world can feel that trees are conscious and powerful beings.
“There’s a lot of science to back that up too.”
