A savvy shopper has revealed how he managed to bag himself a £70 saving after loading up on meat for winter.

Jason Tanfield made a trip to his local Sainsbury’s where he purchased large cuts of lamb for Sunday lunches to last him the “rest of the year”.

What should have been a grand total of £141.27, was knocked right down to £70.88 – all thanks to one easy solution.

“Bang in the freezer – enough for Sunday lunches for the rest of the year – and probably next year,” said Jason, from Cheshire.

The 50-year-old spotted that the half legs were on a special offer – but only for Nectar card holders.

A variety of meats were offered at a 50% discount with prices ranging from £13.50 to £17.97.

Jason decided to take full advantage of the offer – proving that it is definitely worth using supermarket loyalty cards.

Many commenters were quick to congratulate him on the bargain.

But others labelled him “selfish” for the bulk buy.

Lesley wrote: “Great buy, if it’s on offer you have to buy it at that price.”

“Well done,I do like a bargain and a freezer stock up. We do the same as and when we can,” wrote Pauline.

Thelma added: “Think perhaps like a lot of shops should limit you to about 6 of whatever. Yes you can go back and get more, up to you, just my personal opinion.”

Susie said: “Selfish.”
