Brits are paying more for their pints – the third biggest increase reported in five years.

New figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) reveals the average cost of a draft lager has risen from £4.57 to £4.78 in Britain between June 2023 to June 2024.

That’s 4.5% more for your beer.

Meanwhile, a Brit abroad – who regularly visits Benidorm – has found the city’s cheapest pint.

Back in June, thirty-eight-year-old Graham discovered that a pub was flogging Estrella for just 86p.

Thanks to a change in currency rates, the drink is now even cheaper, costing just 85p.

A viral clip shared to TikTok yesterday (28 July) showcases a sign at the Uncle Ron’s 2022 bar, advertising a pint of Estrella for €1.

The post already has 31,400 views from stunned viewers.

“Get me there now!,” said Jen.

“Wish I was there November my next one x,” added Maud.

Someone else pointed out the bizarre cost of water in comparison to beer, saying: “Bottle of water €3,” adding a laughing emoji.

Others questioned the taste of the beer.

“Pint of dregs,” said Alan.

But Graham, who is from Middlesbrough, and his mate, Darren, who recently visited the venue, rate the beer 10 out of 10.

“Darren had about six,” Graham told What’s The Jam.

“He said it’s like back in the early 90s prices.

“The pints are probably the best in Benidorm, they don’t go flat like [in] other bars.

“It tasted good, [we’d] rate it a 10 out of 10.”

The pair, who are regulars at the bar, claim that you can purchase a three-course meal for a bargain £8, too.

The report by the ONS was calculated based on data from licensed venues across the UK.

It shows prices had a 0.2% increase month-on-month.

The biggest increase in the past five years was between June 2022-June 2023, when the cost of a pint rose from £4.09 to £4.57 (11.7%) in the same period.
