A ‘vengeful ghost’ has been terrorising a sleepy village as locals claim to have spotted the spirit lurking behind trees and on rooftops.
Images show the ghost-like figure hiding up a tree and standing on the roof of a village hut.
Numerous villagers claimed to have seen the creepy phantom in recent weeks, with images of the spectre widely circulating on social media on Sunday (21 January).
The alleged apparitions sparked panic in the sleepy village of El Anhelo, located 290 miles north of Medellín in Colombia.
Locals believe the spooky spirit is ‘La Llorona’, known in English as ‘The Crying Woman’ or ‘The Wailer’.

La Llorona is a vengeful ghost from Latin American folklore who cries for her children, drowning them in a jealous rage after learning that her partner cheated on her.
The tale has also been made into several horror movies in 2019 and 2022, seeing the spooky spectre become a part of film history.
She is also said to attack medics who carry out abortions on pregnant women, as well as men who abandon mothers after conceiving a child together.
Locals claim the phantom wore a long white dress and could be heard sobbing uncontrollably for the lost children while terrorising their village.
The sightings led to many locals locking their doors and windows out of fear.
However, some villagers believed the spirit was in fact the work of pranksters who wanted to send shivers up the spine of the community.
One person commented: “Never run away. If you don’t face it with faith in God, it means nothing.”
Another asked: “How do they know it was La Llorona?”
José wrote: “This is fake.”
Diana said: “Every year they come out with the same story.”
